Probably Not The Right Way To Do A Travel Blog...Oh Well.

I read somewhere that a blog post should be a minimum of 2,500 words…I think I might be screwed. Right now, I’m at 24…this is going to take forever.

Bear with me.

Okay, quick question – have you ever watched a video or read about a really cool place or seen a picture so stunning you’re like, “Wow, where is that place?” Then your curious mind gets the best of you, so you look through the blog or description only to find out the information isn’t posted anywhere, or you’re required to sign up and PAY for the information! How frustratingly annoying. (102 words) 😡

Please, please, PLEASE tell me that the hubby and I aren’t alone in this!

Does this happen to you?

  • 0%More than it should, but I'll be able to find it eventually

  • 0%Nope, never. I never have to look hard for the information

  • 0%I don't care, I just like seeing all the pretty places

I can’t even begin to tell you the hours hubby, and I have wasted searching for a place someone talked about or where a photo was taken, all to be left empty-handed with no information…it is SO frustrating.

Many moons ago, hubby and I watched a YouTube video of a couple traveling in Canada. Where they were was absolutely beautiful; it was full of pine forests, giant mountains, and snowy glaciers never once did they mention where they were, somewhere in Canada…for a more detailed video, we would have had to sign up for their channel membership–no thanks! It wasn’t just these YouTubers; it was also on blogs and social media.

I remember jokingly telling hubby that I was going to create a travel blog about all our adventures, and the first thing people would read or see is the information about where a place is coordinates and any other important information. People shouldn’t have to dig.

Friends, we’re only at 279 words; this may take a while. 🥴

I’m new to this, and I know that as a blogger, you want and need people to read through your posts, click on links, and sign up for your mailing list. I get that, and I plan on doing that, but I am going to provide all the necessary information first and then share about the place. My theory is that if someone is looking for that necessary information, chances are they will read about it as well.

I don’t know; maybe I’m going about this the wrong way. I feel that not everything has to focus on link-clicking or signing up. Sure, money and people subscribing are lovely, so I still plan on implementing affiliate links, encouraging people to sign up for my newsletter, and promoting my Etsy shop…nothing wrong with that. But sharing information that the hubby and I already have, for free, is a no-brainer.

Only 436 words…I don’t think I’m going to make it another 2,000 words. 😶 Please forgive me. This just gives me a goal to work towards.

So, my final thoughts…

This isn't going to be your typical travel blog. Life is short. And if doing it will help someone plan their adventure faster or help them get where they are going, then it's worth it.

Any constructive thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated. Please share them below. Even if you just want to say hi, that would be awesome.
